Newsletter 17th October, 2018
Welcome back everyone. I trust that you have all had a great break away from school and that you’re all set for the busy world of Term 4.
Our cover stars this week are students from Learning Team 2 showing off their playground toys that they made using recycled materials. Very clever!
.
Congratulations to all those students who participated in representative events during the holidays.
For the record we hear that Jaemin An, Rowan Waller, Layton Koning, and Liam James represented South Canterbury at the Under 13 Southern Regional Basketball Championship last week in Nelson. The boys played really well getting second in the B Grade. The major highlight was beating West Coast in the semi-final after losing to them in pool play.
Molly Fitzgerald played in the Under 13 A grade that came fourth at the Southern Regional Basketball Championship also in Nelson.
Daniel Poulter and Jacob Borkowski played in the South Canterbury Hatch Development side in the Festival of Hockey tournament in Cromwell. The team won the tournament and Daniel Poulter was awarded the MVP for his team.
A huge thankyou to our wonderful PTA who organised such a fun Colour Walkathon during the last week of term. The afternoon was certainly a colourful one! Please bring your sponsorship monies to the office as soon as possible.
Term Four is always full of great school wide events. Some of the highlights include the school disco on Friday 9th November, and the Athletic sports on Monday 19th November. Our end of year celebration will be held on Monday the 17th December at the South Canterbury Events Centre on Morgans Road. The school will close for the year on Tuesday 18th December at 12pm. The school will re-open for the students on Tuesday 29th January 2019.
On Saturday we will be advertising in the Timaru Herald for Out of Zone places as part of our Enrolment Zone for Terms 1 and 2, 2019. There will be six positions available. An application form can be picked up from the school office as of Tuesday 23rd October.
Out of Zone places for Terms 3 and 4, 2019 will be advertised in the Herald at the end of Term 2, 2019.
