Congratulations to all of our students who participated in the SandfordSouth Canterbury Science and Technology Fair last week. Our Yr 7-8 students certainly did extremely well and we are all very proud of their efforts. For the record Daniel Poulter was awarded the supreme award, no mean feat for a Yr 8 student competing against all exhibiters from Yr 7-Yr 12.

Our cover stars are a representative of the 25 Yr 7-8 students (and 17 exhibits) who will be showing off their Science Fair projects today and tomorrow at the South Canterbury Science Fair at Caroline Bay. Our students will be competing against other students throughout South Canterbury.
With the current measles outbreak in New Zealand it’s timely to remind parents of the need to review their child’s measles vaccination. Our records show that the school currently has a very high level of vaccinated children, but if you are unsure then please contact your GP for an update, and then please confirm with the school.
We’re looking forward to hosting the South Cantebury Rugby Union tomorrow. They will be running a World Cup fun event for Yr 3-8 throughout the day. Keep an eye out for photos on our Facebook page!
This time last week we were all getting very excited about Gleniti’s Got Talent. What a great show it was. A huge thanks needs to go out to everyone who helped and supported our amazing acts. They all certainly shone bright! This week at our full assembly on Friday the four winning acts from Yr 0-2, Yr 3-4, Yr 5-6 and Yr 7-8 will perfom in front of the whole school. Great effort everyone!
Footpath Frenzy continues this Friday. We’ll be walking from our point on Gleniti Road. This is just opposite Cedar Place from 8:30am. See you all there!
Congratulations to Josh Wilson Jones who attended the National Guinea Pig Show in Kaiapoi last Friday. You can tell by the photo and all of the ribbons and certficates that he won that this was a great success for Josh! Awesome effort Josh!

Our cover stars this week are our students from Room 2. They have won a local competition to all go along and watch the South Canterbury Rugby team play Horowhenua Kapiti this weekend. As part of the prize they all receive a rugby ball, a drink bottle, a bag of chips and VIP entry into the game. What a great prize to win for the whole class. Well done Room 2.
Tonight is Gleniti’s Got Talent night. The event begins prompty at 6:00pm when our first act will take their spot on stage. It’s always an exciting and varied night of acts. Everyone is guaranteed to be entertained! Our talent will be judged by local celebrities, Sha-low.
Our acts are all asked to arrive, dressed and ready to perform, by 5:45pm. They are to meet in the meeting room next to the hall. The event should be all finished by 7:30pm.
It was great walking with Mayor Damon Odey last week as part of Footpath Frenzy. We had over 50 walkers with us, easily the biggest turnout of the term. Great effort everyone. This week we will be walking from the corner of Dobson Street and Mountainview Road. Meet us there just before 8:30am on Friday if you’d like to join us.
Just another reminder about parking on yellow lines … don’t. Especially on Heath Street. I can understand that parents are quickly dropping children off, but there are plenty of other places to do this on Poplar Street, Spring Road and Gleniti Road. Thanks for your support with this.
