Our cover stars this week are our Rippa Rugby team. This week they have been playing in Wellington as part of the National Rippa Rugby tournament. Our team really did us proud both on and off the field. They eventually placed 7th out of 26 teams. Highlights were wins against Ireland (North Harbour) 9-4 and Samoa 10-5! All teams got to adopt a Rugby World Cup side and we were Namibia for the week. Every game was close with losses by 1 in every other game. And we drew with the team that eventually came 4th, so all up a very successful trip north. Our cover photo includes All Black Nehe Milner-Skudder!

A huge thankyou needs to go out to all the supporters who went with the team and especially to our coaches Kylie and Tevita Latu.

Our cover stars (looking staunch!) this week are members of our Rippa Rugby team. As a result of winning the South Canterbury competition earlier in the year, the team get to play in the National tournament in Wellington early next week! Wow, what an opportunity! Because it is Rugby World Cup year all teams have been allocated a RWC country to adopt. We’ll be Nambia for the tournament! All the best team, we’re looking forward to hearing about it all when you come back.

Thanks to everyone who filled in our Newsletter online survey last week. We’re currently working through it and coming up with a plan! Watch this space!

On Monday we placed a new survey on our Facebook page. Transitioning from one Learning Team to another can be a difficult time. As a result of a survey of students this has been further identified as an area of need at our school. We would appreciate it if you could take a minute and quickly fill in the form below to help us start to address this. No names are required.

The link to this survey is: https://forms.gle/rbcuQdAhc872YCKw9

Or if you’d like to fill in a hard copy then please use the form enclosed with the newsletter.

Thankyou to all parents and whanau who attended our Parent Interviews last week. Our door is always open if you need to catch up with your teachers outside of Parent Interview times.

Thank you also to everyone who supported the school via the annual Book Fair. In particular a huge thanks to Mrs Taylor for all the hard work she did in setting up and running the book fair. Great work Mrs Taylor!

Over the last few weeks our Wave team have been supporting the Salvation Army by collecting cans of food for the Cans for Good initiative. This photo shows off the extent of what we achieved. Great work everyone !

Footpath Frenzy meeting point this week – Corner of Mountain View and Wai-iti Road.

Last week was a wonderful week for Gleniti School Academics! Our Yr 7 team won the Aoraki Maths Competition and our two Yr 5-6 Current Event Teams placed second and third in their contest. It’s great to see Gleniti performing so well in these competitions. Tonight our Yr 7-8 EPro8 team heads to Ashburton for their semi-final after winning the local contest earlier in the year. This is a technological, engineering problem solving competition. Good luck team!

Footpath Frenzy continues this Friday! We always get a great turnout so feel free to come along and walk with us to school. We’ll be meeting on Gleniti Road just opposite Cedar Place just before 8:30am. As always this is the perfect way to encourage safe walking to school.

Parent Interviews for our Yr 3-8 families are all set to run this week, Wednesday and Thursday of week 4 (August 14 and 15). The school will close early today at 2:00pm for the whole school. Tomorrow school will close at the normal time.

Mrs Taylor has been incredibly busy organising our annual Book Fair. This is on all week in the Library. Every purchase supports the school!

We’d like to make a positive move for the environment by cutting down on the amount of photocopying we do. One of the big things that we print off each week is the school newsletter. Now that the weekly newsletter comes out in multiple formats (Skool Loop App, Gleniti school website, Gleniti Facebook page and good old fashioned email) is there actually a need for a paper version to come home? Help us out by answering a brief survey by following the link below. This link is currently up on the Gleniti Facebook page Thank you!
