Wow, weren’t we lucky with the weather yesterday for our Yr 0-4 Cross Country event! And what a great turn out of parents and whanau who came along to support all the children running. Most importantly what a great event! The children ran superbly, and looked as though they were enjoying themselves. Thank you to Nic Parmenter for organising the day for us. Great effort all round.
Last week our Yr 8 Leaders spent a night away in Christchurch. On Tuesday they worked with the YMCA on Leadership skills and spent the afternoon on the amazing climbing wall at the YMCA. On Wednesday they went along to the Horncastle Arena as part of the Young Leaders Conference. There were children from all around the South Island at the event, listening to keynote speakers such as Lisa Tamati, Amanda Wilson and Riley Hathaway. These speakers spoke of the success and failures in their lives and what they believe are the keys to being great leaders. Very inspirational for our young leaders.
Next Thursday night the school will be celebrating Matariki. The school will be open from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Come along and hear our Kapa Haka group perform, learn more about Matariki, and enjoy the artwork on display in our classrooms. We are also hopeful that we will have some telescopes available so that we can enjoy the wonders of the night sky. Come along and be inspired!
