Principal’s Message

It was great catching up with everyone at the Rm 13-14 camp up at the Mt Hutt Retreat last week. Our students were immersed in all sorts of great outdoor activities including; abseiling, mountain biking, archery, ropes confidence course, bivouac making, roasting marshmallows and jet boating.I was lucky enough to be able to score a ride in the jet boat on Thursday afternoon. Wow! What a great experience.

The Rakaia Gorge is certainly a beautiful and spectacular place to call my office for the afternoon 😀 Our Year 6 students are currently away at Raincliff for their annual camp. I’m looking forward to spending the day with them tomorrow, so keep an eye out for some action photos on our Facebook page.

Some of you may have read that the NZEI, the Teacher’s Union, are running Paid Union Meetings this Friday in Timaru.By law all of our teachers are allowed to attend this meeting should they wish as the NZEI is gearing up to represent the teachers in the up-coming contract rounds. What does this mean to you and your children on Friday? Don’t worry! The school will not be closed for the day or part of the day. There are two meetings during the day and so we have been able to juggle our classrooms to ensure that there is as little disruption to learning as possible. So essentially, there is school as normal on Friday 😀

Congratulations to those who received Principal awards at our assembly on Friday. Great effort!
